Full-time Pastor to Middle School (grades 6-8), High School (grades 9-12), and College Students
Who We Are
Faith Covenant church is a vibrant and growing congregation in the Canyonlands of Texas that places a high value on ministry to students. We are seeking a catalytic leader to lead a lifegiving ministry to students.
As a church, we invest a significant portion of our ministry resources into ministry to students and children. There is a unique next-generation ministry culture at FCC. Approximately 25 adult volunteers are involved in student ministry every week at FCC. A brand new 4,500 square foot student ministry building is currently under construction (due for completion May 15). Our students participate in a week-long camp every summer and we host a large Disciple-Now Weekend every Spring. Our high school students have participated in mission ventures to inner-city Houston, TX, Memphis, TN and Guatemala. FCC also has a strong youth ministry intern program. As a church, we give our students opportunities to participate in and lead out in many areas of church life. We believe it is an important part of their spiritual growth. We believe strongly that a leader with a vision and desire to build a great ministry to students will be very fulfilled at our church.
The student ministry at FCC will consistently see 40-50 students per week (6th grade – 12th grade) in our Wednesday Night middle school ministry and Sunday Night high school Ministry. We also consistently see 10-15 college students in our Sunday Night college ministry. We have many amazing students at our church who are a reflection of the great families that make up FCC. Many students who have left FCC are leading out in ministries on University campuses, leading ministries in their local churches, and several are in full-time vocational ministry.
Borger High School (800 students) is only 2 blocks from our church campus. We also have high school students from several small neighboring communities (Fritch, Panhandle, and Stinnett) that are very involved in our student ministry. We believe there is tremendous potential for ministry to high school students from our church. Borger Middle School (800 students) and Borger High School are both very cooperative with local student ministry leaders and is eager to see youth pastors involved in student life. Frank Phillips College (1,500 students) is fertile field for ministry. It is an exciting, growing 2-year college with student athletes from all over the USA and the world.
Faith Covenant Church is a non-denominational Church founded in 1968 when a group with a vision for a new kind of church began inviting professors from Dallas Theological Seminary to teach in our city. FCC has had a long history of strong emphasis on Bible teaching and ministry to younger generations. In the previous 20 years FCC has grown from 35 in attendance to an average of 250 and continues to grow. We are blessed to have a broad spectrum of Christ followers from all age groups. The largest and fastest growing portion of the congregation at FCC is young families. We believe that a young couple or family that comes to our church will make lifelong friendships. FCC is a gracious, generous, loving, and exciting community of Christ followers.
Borger is a small town (pop. 13,000) in the Texas panhandle, a uniquely beautiful region of the U.S. The area is generally rural, so there is great hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping all around us, yet we are just 50 miles north of Amarillo/Canyon (pop. 230,000) and 150 miles from Lubbock (pop. 350,000). We are within a 6-hour drive to Colorado Springs, Denver, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Oklahoma City and Dallas/Fort Worth! We are only a 5-hour drive from the mountains of New Mexico (skiing, fishing, camping, etc.). Borger is a very family oriented community. It is a great place to raise children.
